The Pearls of Baix Ebre:
Tortosa and Mont Caro
Terres de l’Ebre experience
Weekends
Welcome to an exciting journey through history and nature! Over two days we will immerse ourselves in a rich cultural heritage and magnificent natural landscapes. We will explore Tortosa’s 2,000 years of history, exploring its unique monuments and architecture.
We will also visit the Els Ports Natural Park, where you will find impressive natural landscapes and surprising species of flora and fauna.
WHAT WILL YOU EXPERIENCE?
Proximity tourism
Tortosa. The city of three cultures
Tortosa is an ancient city, the result of the progression of the cultures that have inhabited it, where all have left their mark and are presided over by the Zuda castle, currently the Parador.
It has a beautiful old town where you should wander around until you get lost. Unknown and surprising, the best way to get to know it is on foot, and this is precisely what we will do.
We will delve into the architecture of the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, the Baroque and Modernism. Here, you will see the fortress, the Cathedral of Santa María, the Jewish quarter, the sculptures of the Prince’s Gardens and the Royal Colleges.
A boat trip along the Ebro River will show us the vital river façade of this city.
Els Ports Natural Park
The Els Ports Natural Park is a massif that connects Catalonia with the regions of Valencia and Aragon. It was declared a natural park in 2001 and is the second largest in Catalonia. It offers beautiful places for all nature lovers. We will visit its highest peak, Mount Caro, at 1442 m, which, on a day with good visibility, offers the best view of the plain, whose main protagonist is the Ebro River.
During the interpretive trip through Els Ports, you will learn a lot about the area’s flora and fauna, as well as interesting facts about the park’s geography and history.
You will enjoy incredible panoramic Ports and the Ebro Delta views from a simple walk with professional guides.
El Parador de Tortosa
You will spend the night at El Parador de Tortosa, next to the Zuda Castle.
It is a new building perfectly integrated into the monumental complex. It stands out for its high walls and large Gothic windows. It has spacious and comfortable rooms, an outdoor pool, and elegant rooms for meetings and events. Its elevated position gives a beautiful view of the Ebro Delta and the historical-artistic complex of the beautiful city of Tortosa.
Culinary excursion
An offer of Catalan cuisine with a Mediterranean influence stocked with products from the garden, the Ebro Delta, the sea and the mountains, with rice as one of its main protagonists.
The tasting will take place in a dining room with a unique medieval atmosphere.
