Immersion tourism experience
with local guides

A popular viewpoint of the Ebro Delta, La Foradada is the second-highest peak in the Montsia mountain range in the Tierras del Ebro region. It is adjacent to the Mediterranean Sea and offers spectacular views of the Ebro Delta and its surroundings.

Today, we will hike the last section of the GR-92 route in the Montsia mountain range. Along the way, we will see the lime kilns and the Burgar fountain, we will pass through a beautiful Mediterranean forest where we will see large oaks among various bushes and trees, we will reach the ruins of Mata Redonda, and finally, we will climb to the top of La Foradada. At the top, we will see large eyes or windows carved into the rock, giving this place its name.

The views from the top of La Foradada are impressive, especially of the Ebre Delta and Punta de la Banya. This formation is a small peninsula formed at the southern end of the Ebro Delta, which is joined through the Trabucador isthmus (a long sand barrier of 4 km and 100 to 200 meters wide). This entire complex delimits the maritime space known as Bahía dels Alfacs, which constitutes the largest natural port in Europe.

Wine tasting and lunch
with EVOO pairing

After a long walk, you’ll probably get hungry. Therefore, we decided to end our excursion with a rest and lunch at a restaurant with sea views in San Carlos de la Rápita.

Choose between traditional rapitenca seafood dishes and traditional recipes from the Ebro Delta, made with products from the Sierra del Montsiá, including fish and seafood from the La Rápita market, artisan rice and the best vegetables produced by the fertile lands of the Delta del Ebro, exceptional oils from centuries-old olive trees, and of course the wines provided by the old Garnachas that can be seen growing in Terra Alta.
